Life in 1970’s Trinidad & Tobago with its Black Power marches & Carnival left indelible impressions of protest & street storytelling. In the 80’s training in environmental science & working as development education fundraiser & RSC theatre photographer

In the ’90’s, the UK’s first Sustainable Development Officer – creating a grassroots Agenda 21 ‘Quality of Life’ campaign so residents influenced the council with their great ideas.

Then for a decade at Notting Hill Carnival Buy Caribbean Best of the Bunch campaigning against WTO sanctions on Caribbean banana hill-farmers. Using ‘edutainment’ – sound truck & costumes made by Notting Hill residents on the road at carnival, music, MCs, video, radio/pirate radio.

In Trinidad, working with Brian Mac Farlane on ambitious kings, queens and carnival bands, playing iron percussion and producing a fire show at carnival with the awesome Laventille Rhythm Section.

Creating dance music band Engine Room UK, street performance act Dragon Heart Beats and oratorical Midnight Robber Emperor Mort Bleu.
