Percussion Band - The Unique sound of Engine Room UK

Formed in Brighton in May 2003, inspired by the driving trancelike beats of the traditional rhythm section or 'engine room' of the Trinidadian steelband, 6-piece Engine Room UK plays iron brake drums and other bits of metal with steel sticks.
The band updates the sound of the Trinidadian rhythm section into an innovative high energy, handmade, tribal-industrial dance music. Alongside the insistent sound of iron, Engine Room use two 3-note bass steelpans, drumkit, djembe drums, bass toms and miscellaneous percussion to play breakbeat, techno, drum & bass, house & soca.
